Meeting agenda items for 19 Feb.
  • Mike Sawinski from the Duluth Superior Sailing Association and the Duluth Boat Club will be back to share info and take input about the new proposed boating facilities at the current DSSA site and at 13th and Minnesota Ave.
  • Sharla Gardner, City Councilor for District 3 is planning to stop by to check- in/ clarify/ answer questions about the City Council resolution that was printed in the Feb. Breeze. The City Council has requested that PPCC send representatives to study “Tier 2” recommendations for the Park Point Small Area Plan under the guidance of City Planning.
 FURTHER RESOLVED, that city council supports the establishment of a study group, functioning under the guidance of city planning staff, to review the various issues involved, including environmental concerns, location and number of access points, screening needs and level of improvements needed at the access points. The city council proposes that members of the study group include members of the parks commission, representatives from the Park Point Community Club and the Street End Coalition, and two volunteers familiar with the comprehensive land use plan. The study group should submit its findings and recommendations to the city planning staff within one year of this resolution by December 31, 2015. FURTHER RESOLVED, that the city council recommends that the city suspend implementation of the portion of the Park Point small area plan involving Tier 2 access points until the study group submits its findings and recommendations to the city planning staff. 
  • Bylaws update committee– we could use more help. Thanks to Dave Poulin, Liz Mackay and now John Sargent who has offered to assist with contract and grant review language additions for the bylaws.
  • Elections will be held at Lafayette- Jeff Cox sent a note confirming that the State Primary will be held at Lafayette on Tuesday, September 15; the General Election will be held at Lafayette on Tuesday, November 3, 2015.

 

  • PPCC seeks new secretary, thank you to Deb Strange for your service and best wishes with new opportunities

Exec. Bod notes from 2/15 /15 meeting at Lafayette, lower 4pm

The executive board is seeking a secretary, Deb Strange has stepped down as PPCC secretary. Thank you, Deb, for your work for our community.

The Breeze Editor, David Bacchus is seeking training assistance with Adobe InDesign desktop publishing. He is hoping for assistance with layout of the Breeze and guidance/education for a couple months. Also seeking assistance for the hardcopy opt out list monthly and ideas/brainstorming on how to temporarily tell the delivery folks not to drop a copy off. Al Robins, PPCC treasurer,  has volunteered to help out with the youth committee. The executive board would like the committee to explore the use of AmeriCorps volunteers for the summer program. Liz Mackay sent an email saying several parents are now helping with program proposal review process and planning for yet another great summer at Lafayette.
