PPCC Meets Tuesday, March 20 at Lafayette; 6:30pm social & meeting at 7pm

Program for March 20, 7pm

Cindy Hakala from Starry Skies Duluth has agreed to give a talk on the effects of light pollution at our March Meeting.   Light noise can interfere with sleep with humans and flight with birds.  Different light colors have different effects, see how this might be affecting your world and our world.

Agenda Items:

  • Support of the Smelt Parade: Smelt Parade Support and Info 2018
  • Second vote on tree planting project
  • Youth Committee Grant Quest
  • Postcard sign postings
  • Note from Councilor Westerlund
  • No more shiny paper collecting at the Rowing Club

Watch Committee Items:

  • Harbor Technical Advisory Committee
    • The HTAC is a working group that addresses challenges and opportunities in the Duluth-Superior harbor, while promoting the port’s economic and environmental importance to both communities. It is the only stakeholder group of its kind in the country.
    • From last meeting,”The presentation at HTAC showed the 10/2017 storm damage and what might be done to restore the erosion damage, depending on funding availability. Plans as shown are for more of the same: stop-gap, short term fixes using maintenance dredging as source materials for “beach nourishment.” G. Glass MPPS, PPCC, HTAC
