Updated Tree & Brush Drop Off Info for Park Point Quarantine

Hi Neighbors,

Here is the newest information about where to take your trimmings/trees on Park Point. Do not take any brush or trees off of Park Point. See info. below:

Tree parts and brush drop off site will be temporarily closed and reevaluated for a new regular schedule in March, when people typically start tree cutting and spring prep

–          Park Point residents will still have access to the site by request to Dale Sellner at 730-4303 as no wood parts can leave the Point.

–          No members of the public are allowed to use this site for trash drop off or to drop off tree parts from other areas of the city.

–          This temporary closure would be effective January 11, 2016 with a new schedule to be determined in early spring.

In its 46th year the art fair is well established, well organized and well liked by area artists for its ease of set-up, hospitality and consistent sales. Each year The Park Point Art Fair draws over 10,000 visitors to Park Point, a beautiful natural setting tucked between the lake and the bay, where they can buy art from our region’s finest artists.

Artists are treated to an awards dinner Saturday evening where the community recognizes their excellence with cash prizes of over $1300.00 In addition to great hospitality, we know that half our attendees are going to purchase art and that we succeed in attracting art buyers in higher income brackets who return year after year drawn by the quality and variety of the work. Our attendees especially enjoy getting to know the artists through conversation and repeat visits. This is the Duluth art fair you do not want to miss, at the start of our tourist season, when little competes with this much anticipated event. You are more likely to succeed here and have a good time while you are at it.

Artists can apply at https://www.zapplication.org/event-info.php?ID=4639.
The application process is currently open.

Emerald ash borer larvae kill ash trees by tunneling under the bark and feeding on the part of the tree that moves nutrients up and down the trunk. Minnesota is highly susceptible to the destruction caused by invasive insect. The state has approximately one billion ash trees, the most of any state in the nation. For more information on emerald ash borer, go to www.mda.state.mn.us/eab.
